Sabine Costagliola completed her PhD in immunology at Aix Marseille University, France in 1991, followed by a PhD in biomedical sciences at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium in 2000. Dr Costagliola is currently a research scientist at the National Scientific Research Foundation, Belgium and Group Leader at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Research, the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. She is also an executive committee member of the European Thyroid Association. Dr Costagliola has been awarded the Laureat of Haarington De Vischer Prize from the European Thyroid Association (2001), the Alvarenga Prize from the Royal Academy of Medicine, Belgium (2004) and the Gaetano Salvatore Prize from the Academia dei Lincei, Roma, Italy (2005). She has over 70 peer-reviewed articles published in international journals and has spoken at more than 50 international conferences or symposia.
