Roger Bouillon graduated from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium in 1968 and trained in internal medicine, endocrinology and nuclear medicine at the Academic Hospital Sint Rafael, Leuven until 1975, and completed his PhD in 1977 on “Advances in Calcium Metabolism”. He is currently a full Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (1990-present) and Chairman of the Unit of Endocrinology, University Hospital Gasthuisberg, Leuven, Belgium (1986 present). Prof Bouillon sits on numerous Boards and is a member of several journals’ Editorial Boards. His research activities include bone and calcium metabolism, vitamin D research, including non-calcemic activity of 1,25-(OH)2D3 analogs, and type 1 diabetes. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed articles.
