Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common endocrine disorder of reproductive women. This syndrome is often associated with cardiovascular risk.
Objective: Our objective was to assess the prevalence of cardiovascular factor in len PCOS women.
Materials and methods: Sixty-eight lean PCOS were prospectively evaluated for glucose intolerance, dyslipidémie and high blood pressure from 2004 to 2007.
Results: In this population 4.4% had glucose intolerance, 45.5% had HDL-C <1.30 mmol/l, 5.5% had triglyceridemia >1.70 mmol/l and 4.5% had high blood pressure.
Conclusion: Lean PCOS women are also at risk of IGT and hypoHDL-C so they should be screened for IGT and HDL-C.
