Introduction: Recent animals studies suggest that osteocalcin have influence on beta cell proliferation, insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity. Osteoblasts appear to regulate energy expenditure by acting on adipocytes and pancreatic islet cells via osteocalcin, a 49-residue polypeptide.
