The glycoprotein hormone, TSH, is synthesized and secreted by thyrotrophs in the anterior pituitary gland. It acts at the TSH receptor (TSHR), a 7-transmembrane G-protein coupled cell membrane receptor expressed in thyroid follicular cells.
