Introduction: The number of patients with diabetes has been increasing at an alarming pace for the last decade. Sexuality is frequently affected in diabetic patients.

The aim of this study was to describe the clinical profile of a group of type 2 diabetic patients suffering of erectile dysfunction (ED).

Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study involving a population of 70 type 2 diabetic patients recruited from the day hospital during May and June 2015.

All men were invited to complete a sexual activity questionnaire (the abridged five-item version of the International Index of Erectile Function-IIEF-5) as a diagnostic tool for ED.

Results: Of the 70 patients studied, 61 suffer of erectile dysfunction. The erectile dysfunction is mild, moderate and severe in respectively 47.1, 19 and 33.9% of cases. 81.9% of the subjects are smokers. 65.5% are overweight and 32.7% have dyslipidemia. The average HbA1c is 10.62%. Men with ED were significantly older than subjects without ED. On our study, the onset of ED is directly correlated to diabetes’ duration. Cardiovascular risk factors as well as degenerative complications are associated with an increased risk of ED.
