Background: We have seen an increasing number of carcinoid flare events following PRRT which is a recognised complication of medical/ surgical intervention. Flare events are less severe than carcinoid crisis but require prompt management to avoid patient morbidity and mortality. The rise in this complication is likely due to the complexity and advanced stage of disease at time of therapy commencement. There is very little in the literature about management of this cohort of p...

Approximately 15-20% of phaeochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGL) are metastatic. Metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) has been reported infrequently. We present three cases of MSCC secondary to metastatic PPGLs. MSCC can occur in patients with PPGLs and should be considered in patients with either spinal symptoms or spinal metastases on imaging. Our series has shown radiotherapy followed by therapeutic MIBG to be effective in treating spinal metastases. Each case shou...

68Gallium-DOTANOC (68Ga-DOTANOC) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in Bronchial Carcinoids (BC): multicentre evaluation of its role in clinical practice

Lamarca Angela , Pritchard D. Mark , Westwood Thomas , Papaxoinis George , Vinjamuri Sobhan , Valle Juan W , Manoharan Prakash , Mansoor Wasat

Background: New nuclear medicine imaging techniques have improved diagnosis, staging and treatment planning for BC. 68Ga-DOTA PET is preferable to standard somatostatin receptor scintigraphy where available (ENETS guidelines); however, its role in the management of BC remains unclear. Methods: All consecutive patients diagnosed with BC from two ENETS Centres of Excellence were identified retrospectively; patients with high grade tumours or lack...

Background: Bone toxicity and more specifically Radiotherapy Related Insufficiency Fractures (RRIFs) are common late effects of pelvic radiotherapy, associated with increased morbidity and reduced quality of life, while their cost to the health system is currently unknown. The mechanisms underlying RRIFs are not well understood. Effective preventive techniques and management pathways need to be developed and validated with robust clinical and health economic analyses. The RadB...
