Partial lipodystrophy syndromes are characterised by a selective paucity of subcutaneous adipose tissue on the trunk and limbs but excessive fat on the face, neck, supraclavicular areas and pelvis. Metabolic complications include insulin resistance and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
