Introduction: Glucocorticoids are used for treatment of various hematological malignancies such as Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Glucocorticoids are known to induce apoptosis by regulating the expression of key anti- or pro-apoptotic genes. Vitamin D induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in various types of cancer cells. Despite recent advances in treatment of AML, the poor response rate to therapy remains a big challenge. Therefore, discovering new factors that can affect th...

HCC is a difficult-to-treat-cancer with poor prognosis. EVOLVE-1 trial demonstrated that EVE did not improve overall survival in molecularly and clinically unselected patients with advanced HCC resistant to sorafenib. In selected patients, the well-established antitumor effect of EVE could make this a potential adjuvant therapy. Unfortunately, EVE acquired resistance due to the tumor adaptation to chronic drug use is a current challenge. VitD was deemed as potential regimen to...

It is generally believed that the signal transduction of AT1 angiotensin receptor (AT1R), the major receptor of angiotensin II, requires ligand binding and subsequent adoption of its active conformation. Activated AT1R induces a plethora of signaling pathways, in contrast to inactive AT1R, which was thought to be silent in terms of signaling. We hypothesized that unliganded, but phosphorylated AT1R may recruit β-arrestins, the key proteins of receptor desensitization, int...
