Relevance: In women of reproductive age with obesity, the interval from planning pregnancy to conception increases and as BMI increases, the fertility rate decreases. Obesity can have a significant impact on the reproductive function of women, since adipose tissue produces a large number of biologically active substances, and endocrine-metabolic and hormonal changes associated with excess fat play an undoubted role in dysfunction of the reproductive system. The purpose of the study: to study the relationship between leptin and anti-Muller hormone (AMH) in women of reproductive age suffering from infertility and obesity.
Materials and methods: The study included 55 women of reproductive age with obesity and infertility. The average age of the patients was 30.8±5.9. The body mass index was examined and the baseline levels of the hormones AMH and leptin were determined.
Results: According to the results of the study, 35 women had class 1 obesity (30-34.9 kg/m2) and 20 women had class 2 obesity (35-39.9 kg/m2). The results showed a decrease in AMH levels of 1.03±0.5 (P = 0.004) in patients with class 2 obesity. There was a significant moderate correlation between Leptin and body mass index (r = 0.466, P <0.0001) and a significant moderate negative correlation between leptin and AMH (r= - 0.386, p= 0.004) in the entire cohort of patients.
Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was revealed that the indicators of leptin and AMH reflect the relationship between reproductive disorders and obesity. The results obtained prove that with an increase in leptin levels, there is a decrease in AMH, which is the cause of endocrine infertility in women.
