Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common reproductive and cardio-metabolic disorder in women. It is a complex disorder involving the reproductive and endocrine systems, marked by a dysregulation in the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, affecting communication between the brain and reproductive organs. Additionally, the gut-brain axis contributes to the metabolic disturbances in PCOS, with altered gut microbiota interacting with neuroendocrine pathways to worsen both metabolic and reproductive symptoms. This altered brain-body communication also influences the central nervous system, impacting cognitive function and mood. The 2025 AE-PCOS Update Meeting will explore these interconnected topics to advance our understanding of PCOS.
