Introduction: Many complications of T2DM, including retinopathy and renal failure, have been associated with glucose and triglyceride metabolism. Hyperglycemia causes oxidative stress mainly due to the enhanced production of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species ROS, non-enzymatic protein glycosylation and glucose autoxidation.
