Patients with Cushing's syndrome emphasize the importance of cortisol in regulating body fat mass and distribution, bone mineral density and intraocular pressure. However, patients with the prevalent diseases, obesity, osteoporosis and glaucoma, invariably have normal circulating cortisol concentrations.
