Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most frequent endocrinopathy in premenopausal women, and has many clinical features in common with the metabolic syndrome.

Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics of our PCOS women.

Methods: Of 181 PCOS defined by the Rotterdam criteria and 90 controls were evaluated for anthropometric parameters by physical examination.

Results: The PCOS and controls clinical parameters were compared. The mean age of PCOS was 27.52±7.23 vs 28.02±8.45 years P=0.18; the BMI was 28.67±7.72 vs 27.3±6.37 kg/m2 P=0.09; the waist circumference was 99.51±18.14 vs 92.23±12.01 cm P=0.001; the waist to hip ratio was 0.87±0.1 vs 0.82± 0.1 P=0.001; the systolic blood pressure was 136.14±12.89 vs 112.2± 11.4 mmHg P=0.001 and the diastolic blood pressure was 81.25±9.59 vs 74.3±7.1 mmHg P=0.01.

Conclusion: PCOS women have greater waist circumference, W/H ratio, systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
