Short bowel syndrome (SBS) is a complex disease, occurring after extensive resection of the small intestine, leading to malabsorption of nutrients and fluids. Lipids storage significantly affects bone maintenance. Caloric restriction promotes bone and adipose tissue (AT) loss but marrow adipose tissue (MAT) expansion.
