Nozdrin Mikhail , Selyanina Maria , elshowaya suhier , Ahmed Ghada , Rzeszowski Blazej , Abreu Rafael , Mihalikova Simona , Mlawa Gideon

Background: SGLT-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) are used in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) through increasing urinary glucose secretion. Cases of euglycemic and hyperglycaemic diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) have been reported in literature in patients using SGLT-2i. Increased glucose urinary excretion promoted by SGLT2i, decreases the production of insulin. In turn, lipolysis and ketone production increase predisposing the patient to developing DKA. It is hypothesised that ...

Fertility in Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia

Meczekalski Blazej

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is defined as several autosomal recessive diseases resulting from mutations of genes for enzymes mediating the biochemical steps of production of mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids or sex steroids from cholesterol by the adrenal glands. Fertility in women with CAH is essential and underestimated clinical problem. According to current studies patients with classic form of CAH due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency have lower fertility rate that c...

Mineral balance, parathormone and vitamin D in patients with policystic ovary syndrome

Czyzyk Adam , Podkowa Natalia , Podfigurna-Stopa Agnieszka , Meczekalski Blazej

Introduction: Recent data showed that PCOS is related to abnormal calcium and phosphate metabolism. The patients are characterized by elevated levels of PTH and decreased levels of vitamin D. Abnormalities in mineral homeostasis are related to insulin resistance. In this study, we assessed a complex of calcium and phosphate metabolism indices in patients diagnosed with PCOS.Material and methods: 60 women, aged 25±5 years diagnosed with PCOS accordin...
