Patient is a 43 years old female without any known additional disease. A pituitary mass was seen in the cranial MRI taken due to the complaint of forgetfulness. Pituitary MRI of the patient revealed a ’large intrasellar mass of 3.2x3x2.3 cm, which expanded the sella and pressed the optic chiasm’. The patient didn’t describe any symptoms other than forgetfulness. She didn’t have galactorrhea, cushingoid or acromegaloid appearance. Patients laboratuary evalua...

Introduction: Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a neoplastic histiocytic disorder that characterized by proliferation of abnormal Langerhans cells. The most typical organs affected by LCH are the skin and bones, though it can also affect the pituitary gland, central nervous system, liver, spleen, lungs, and other organs.Case 1: 36 year old man presented with polyuria, polydipsia and right hip pain lasting about 4 months. The pain increased in the la...

Cushing’s syndrome as a result of ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion, is associated with various tumors. Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) causing ectopic ACTH syndrome is a very rare condition. A 70-year-old male patient with a history of LUSC was admitted to our clinic for evaluation of worsening delirium and hypokalemia. Two courses of pembrolizumab were administered to our patient who was diagnosed with LUSC a month ago. At presentation, neurologic...

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease that affects all organs and progresses with a wide variety of clinical manifestations. Cases of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) are particularly difficult to diagnose because of its atypical course.Case: A 32-year-old female patient was evaluated in our clinic with the complaint of localized swelling in both supraclavicular regions (ScR) for one and a half months. There were no fevers, cough, or weight loss symptoms pres...

Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) occur in multiple tissues and vary widely in clinical behaviour. Up to 70% of diagnosed patients have elevated circulating levels of chromogranin A, the only serum marker commonly used in clinical practice. However, its low sensitivity and the identification of confounding factors that compromise specificity have raised the need for additional or alternative markers for disease detection and management. Here we aimed to discover candidate NET mark...

Dağdeviren Murat , Koca Arzu Or , Akkan Tolga , Ateş İhsan , Neşelioğlu Salim , Erel Ozcan , Altay Mustafa

Objective: The aim of our study was to determine whether there is a relationship between oxidative stress parameters and subacute thyroiditis.Material and methods: The study included 55 subacute thyroiditis patients and 30 healthy volunteers. Total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), paraoxonase (PON) and thiol/disulfide homeostasis parameters were measured by a novel and automated assay in the patient and control groups.<p class="a...

We would like to present a case of primary hyperparathyroidism presumably present with clinically large cystic parathyroid adenoma with multiple destructive skeletal lesions, which is of course referred to bone metastases.Case: A 58-year-old male patient was admitted to the orthopedy polyclinic with left leg pain and on the MR imaging performed here, multiple lytic lesions compatible with metastasis to the tibia and fibula were detected. He was directed ...

Purpose: GDM is defined as any degree of carbonhydrate intolerance that is first diagnosed during pregnancy. Patients diagnosed with GDM are expected to have complications such as Type II DM, obesity, hypertension in the long term. Prevalence of GDM diagnosis during pregrancy changes between 2 and 10%. Our purpose is to revaluate the OGTT of the patients diagnosed with GDM, with regard to their postpartum Type II DM progress.Materials and methods: 450 pr...

Kılıc Halime , Cadırcı Kenan , Durmaz Şenay , Utlu Mustafa , Sevimli Hakan , Carlıoğlu Ayşe

Aim: The lipid accumulation product (LAP) index which is associated with abnormal glucose regulation can be easily calculated. Women with polycystic ovary syndrome have more than one risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases such as glucose intolerance, insulin resistance and abdominal lipoidosis. In this study, we intend the evaluation of LAP index in women with PCOS.Method: This study included 35 women patients with PCOS (mean age 22.4...

Cadırcı Kenan , Keskin Havva , Durmaz Şenay , Arslan Abdulmuttalip , Sevimli Hakan , Carlıoğlu Ayşe

Aim: In a previous study, we demonstrated elevated mean platelet volume in isolated hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism (IHH) is associated with high cardiovascular risk. Monocyte count/HDL-cholesterol ratio (MHR) is a new inflammatory marker showing cardiovascular risk. The purpose of this study is to evaluate (MHR) in men with hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism.Method: This study includes 31 men with isolated hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism without previous trea...
